Name: Piotr Nikolaivitch Rasputin
Nicknames: Tinman, Pete
Age: 25
Birthday: April 11th, 1989
Gender: Male
Eye Color: Brown
Hair: Dark Brown
Height: 6’6
Place of Birth: Moscow, Soviet Union (now Russia)
Ethnicity: Russian
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Mutant Powers: Piotr possesses the mutant ability to transmute his mass into a metallic substance. He can activate this transformation willingly at any time, though it will happen automatically under conditions of extreme fear or anger. He cannot transmute part of his mass, it is either his entire body or none of it. In this metallic form, he does not need to eat, drink or breathe, and is functionally immune to fatigue. His mass increases to nearly a ton, astonishingly light for a volume of metal with such strength and durability. His speed and reaction time, impressive for a man his size are completely unimpeded by the transformation.
Most notably, the transformation grants him incredible superhuman strength and durability. He is officially diagnosed as being able to lift in excess of 90 tons by Westchester’s testing resources and that amount may increase somewhat as his powers develop further and as he improves his strength generally. He is one of the physically toughest mutants catalogued in the Westchester system. In his steel form, point-blank fire from small arms would scarcely be noticed. He could almost certainly survive direct impact from anti-tank weaponry, though it’s possible that he would suffer injury from these weapons. His resistance to heat is immense- he could survive conditions inside an ordinary blast furnace indefinitely. Given his lack of need to breathe and the durability of his form, it is likely he could survive the vacuum of space, if there was a need to.
Abilities and Resources: Piotr is an extremely talented painter and sketch artist and has already begun to sell his artwork and have it displayed in galleries. He tends to favor realistic sketches, though he has dabbled in other styles as well. Even without his mutant powers, he is incredibly strong and possesses incredible stamina, being used to long hard days of manual labour and adhering to an intensive exercise schedule.
He also cooks.
Weaknesses: If Piotr is ever knocked unconscious, he will revert to human form. While not a weakness to him, per se, he must be careful using his strength, as a powerful blow from him would almost certainly kill an ordinary human or wreak considerable property damage.
Personality and Presentation: One might imagine Piotr to be somewhat loutish, based on his immense size and physical prowess, but quite the opposite is true. He is actually rather quiet and sensitive, even shy, especially around strangers. No one should, however, confuse that sensitivity and quietness with timidity, for indeed, Piotr is an incredibly courageous individual who would make any sacrifices necessary in order to protect the people he cares about, and indeed, even strangers.
Piotr is slightly old-fashioned in some ways, behaving chivalrously and politely towards women in social settings, opening doors, paying on dates and similar things, though he also steadfastly opposes real sexism. His personal morality is fairly conservative, though he is generally nonjudgemental towards other people’s behavior- for example, he does not drink himself, though he has no difficulty in being around people who do and looking after them.
Piotr is not swift to anger but when he is truly angry, his rage is a terrifying thing to behold and it is difficult for him to truly calm down again.
History: Piotr was born in Moscow, Russia in the dying days of the Soviet Union, his father a soldier in the Red Army and his mother a trauma surgeon in the city of Moscow. His early childhood was fairly unremarkable, save for some unpleasant memories of poor treatment from his brother, Mikhail, who constantly derided him for his artistic interests. He lost his father at an early age (soon after his sister Illyana was born), after which he became slightly more withdrawn, particularly as much of the world around them became more and more chaotic.
Coming to America was a blessing almost without reservation for Piotr, which they did in his early teenage years. Mikhail, being significantly older, stayed behind in Russia, eventually drifting into the Mob. He would eventually be killed in a gang-related incident, though Piotr and him had little relationship for years beforehand. Piotr’s relationship with his sister Illyana was a far stronger and sympathetic one and he became very protective of his little sister as they grew up together in a new land.
As the 2010s dawned, the Rasputins were in many ways, as happy and prosperous as they had ever been. With their mother able to resume her medical practice, they were able to enjoy a lifestyle they had never had a chance for previously. However, the advent of mutant registration and anti-mutant prejudice had a serious impact on them as, not long before, Piotr’s powers had activated while saving his sister from being run over by a semi-truck.
As of late, Piotr has found himself a member of a newly formed X-Men team, which has already battled the Brotherhood of Mutants in the midst of a riot in Mutant Town and successfully defeated the Juggernaut and Black Tom Cassidy. He is currently the art teacher at the Xavier Institute for the Gifted, and has recently begun a romantic relationship with fellow X-Man Kitty Pryde.
